Níall McLaughlin Architects  have designed the House at Pipers End in Hertfordshire, UK.

This new family house replaces a dilapidated farmhouse on 2 acre site in rural Hertfordshire. Planning permission for the house, which is within the Greenbelt, was awarded because the new house was demonstrated to be more sustainable in the long term than refurbishing the existing building.

Renzo Piano: Kimbell art museum piano pavilion, fort Worth, Texas

Renzo Piano’s pavilion will extend the original cycloid vaulted louis kahn masterpiece, the Kimbell art museum. Due to the unprecedented expanison of the collection, special exhibitions frequently force the permanent collection to remain in storage. The ‘piano pavilion’ will allow the concrete form of the original khan structure to house the permanent collection. The white neighboring volume contains three galleries for display of traveling and curated exhibitions. a second auditorium has been designed for concerts. The extension also houses an expanded educational center with classrooms, workshops, and an expanded library, art storage and preparatory areas, and other supporting services such as a membership office, and security.

“The Miami Sun” by Visiondivision

The city of Miami, Florida is synonymous with sun, surf, and no small amount of flamboyant decadence. Tapping into the energy of the Sunshine State, architectural firm Visiondivision has entered their conceptualization of the Bayfront Park into a competition to create a landmark attraction for the area. Their plans for the Miami Sun building include a giant grid shell structure with a glass facade that is covered with solar panels. Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects, in collaboration with Friis & Moltke, just won the competition to design the Ny Anstalt correctional facility in Nuuk, Greenland. The 8,000 square meter facility is the first such facility in Greenland, focusing on the contrast between beauty and roughness as a guiding theme for the project.
