Artist Andrew Myers Suspends 1,200 Cubes to Create a Pixelated Portrait

California-based artist Andrew Myers hung 1,200 hand-painted acrylic cubes from 800 yards of stainless steel wire to create an exceptionally correct sculpture that, when viewed head-on, creates the pixelated face of a man. Titled 'My Dealer is Not a Square,' the unusual portrait portrays Lawrence Cantor, Myers' art dealer.

"In my pursuit to always make unique art, I realized that what is exceptional about the screw pieces is how one screw by itself is pointless, but joining hundreds of them to create single image is what makes those pieces extraordinary," he told My Modern Met via email.

Myers, who is famous for his time-intensive artwork made of countless screws, branched out to a new medium for this recent piece.
