Artist Ran Hwang Uses Buttons to Create Large-Scale Installations

New York based artist Ran Hwang applies buttons from the fashion industry to create huge, frequently immersive installations. The artist explains her process of nailing myriads of pins into a wall similar to a monk meditating. Both practices rely on routine and result in something magical.

Also, the artist uses string to join thousands of pins to a two-dimensional surface. The negative space built by the artist results in such images as a crystal chandelier covered in cobwebs.
