An Artist Shows The Connection Between Man And Nature Using His Weaving Style

Alexi Torres is a famous artist from Cuba, most renowned for his elaborate oil artwork pieces that are painted to appear as if they were crocheted and woven.

"My technique involves using a signature basket weaving style to produce the paintings," the artist wrote on his website. "Each takes approximately 20 layers to intricately weave the image of the cake in acrylic with brushes of various sizes and textures. I use this woven effect to further underscore human interconnectedness as well as the relationship between man and nature. This method is intended to symbolize not only how much stronger we are when we're connected, but also how vulnerable we become separated from one another."
