Colored Pencil Sketches on Moleskine by Marco Mazzoni

Marco Mazzoni creates works that at first lead the viewer amiss, appearing as bouquets or nests until one notices fins projecting from the flora that lies across his Moleskine sketchbooks. Some works focus on small groups of animals while others serve as finely drawn “I Spy” collages, as he includes camouflaged toads and birds into lush, textured gardens.

Colored pencil is the Italian artist’s tool of choice, great pastels of purple, blue and pink creating most of his paused still lifes. You can see more of the artist’s animal clusters on his Instagram, and Facebook.
