Installation artist Karin van der Molen creates relationships between the artificial and natural through chair-based works that flow out of the windows of aging pores. In her 2015 part Flux, the Dutch artist created among her installations in the Le Rayolet from the botanical garden Domaine du Rayol. The wooden chairs delve right into a flow of shaped logs that connect the work to the neighboring gardens. The piece seems to go from solid to fluid, creating a bridge that she describes”makes us conscious of the difference involving nature and culture.” Molen creates a similar effect ‘A Wave of Nostalgia‘ which she installed in the Museum Lolland-Falster in Pederstrup, Denmark in 2014.
