Ellen June

Ellen was born in Markham Ontario Canada and chose to shape three-dimensional forms naturally at a young age. In 2007 Ellen finished her postsecondary honors level in Anthropology and Fine Art at McMaster University. While completing her undergraduate degrees, Ellen worked in medical illustration, exotic animal care and has been teaching a children class on stop-motion animation. From the time she introduced her thesis, Ellen’s academic and artistic pursuits in the biological have been intrinsically interwoven.

Considered by those who know her as a pure entrepreneur, Ellen set out on her path as a professional artist while still in high school, spending long summer evenings traveling to exhibitions. Ever the curious soul, while working as an artist Ellen has continued to examine art and science respectively, most recently, through Haliburton School of the Arts and the University of Guelph. She’s also gathered certifications in other areas of personal intrigues, such as applied animal behavior modification and crisis counseling. According to Ellen, it informs her artwork; enriching the content of the unconscious narrative stream.

Now Ellen’s job is achieving a vibrant online presence creating notable appearances on popular sites such as Colossal, Reddit, Bored Panda, Ecology Global Network, American Crafters and many others. Her sculptures are being featured in public and private collections worldwide. Ellen is expanding her studio training and eternally striving to experimentation and fulfill the demand for her work and time.

Besides her own life as a professional artist, Ellen functions a small scale monster sanctuary with the help of her partner in their Vancouver Island farm. Every day provides no shortage of inspiration. In her spare minutes Ellen enjoys exploring and hiking, traveling, kayaking, hunting wild plants and mushrooms, executing permaculture principles, ‘upcycling’ salvaged things, drinking coffee and feeding tiny birds. As her clinic gains more international audience she resembles the opportunity to travel more and research meaningful new jobs.
