Emma Hartvig

Emma Hartvig is a Swedish photographer based in Paris.

In her job, she orchestrates carefully organized and staged situations, investigating massive narratives inspired by cinema. Her arresting portfolio of enticing, frequently unexpected photographic compositions also signs at a tongue-in-cheek appraisal of this world of advertising. A picture-perfect surface seduces the viewer; Gently masking the absurd components that underpin each picture, from bizarrely cropped alpine scenes to alluring, near-artificial edible structures. The photos mimic a discordant chain of film stills – that the elisions induce the audience to conjure the lost frames in their creativity. (Extract from Aesthetica Magazine 2016)
