The rock and soil around us are always changing. Wind, water, animals–everything is a part of the process by which erosion happens in nature. But humans have increased this rate tenfold to four-hundred times what it would be naturally!
Erosion can happen for many different reasons: wind or debris flows from natural disasters like floods; runoff during heavy rainstorms that carries away sediments with them into rivers and oceans; or even just simply walking on the sand too much will cause an area to wear down over time thanks to our weight pushing against the grains below our feet.
