Thousand Cranes is a 1952 novel by Japanese author Yasunari Kawabata. The novel follows five episodes, each one exploring the lives and struggles of different characters living in Japan during World War II: “Thousand Cranes”, “A Grove in the Evening Sun”, Figured Shino, “Her Mother’s Lipstick” and Double Star.” After reading this book you will see that nobody escapes from the war unscathed – it leaves its mark on every person who fights for what they believe is right.
