Villain

In stories, the villain is often a character that has a negative effect on other characters. The best way to describe them would be as an “evil” person who may not even have any redeeming qualities at all. They can also serve as protagonists in some cases though they are typically antagonists which means their goal contradicts with what you might want or need for your protagonist’s success and happiness.
