A Natural Order by Lucas Foglia

After having lived a semi-rural farm life as a child in the suburbs of New York City, where back-to-the-land practices like bartering home grown veggies for a dentist appointment went hand-in-hand with modern day living principles, photographer Lucas Foglia developed a curiosity for investigating other self-sufficient communities. Foglia spent four years traveling through the southwest of America photographing, interviewing and generally just hanging out with groups of people who have chosen to live “off-the-grid”. Motivated by religious beliefs, environmental worries or financial concerns, they build their own homes, hunt and gather their own food and collect water from nearby springs.
