Artist Jennifer Thoreson Subverts Everyday Scenes into Surreal Photographs

In constructing her photos, Jennifer Thoreson creates abstract items and a curated space for her models to dwell. The result are the works which are at once intimate and surreal, her crafted amorphous accessories extensions of these figures’ humanity. In the series”Testament,” the artist reverses everyday scenes using something darker and revealing.

“I am drawn to moments where people are on an edge, barely laced together, befriending disaster, remembering something, or exposing something. Testament explores topics of both dependence and durability; it illustrates the heavy burdens we carry and the relentless yearning for discharge.”
