Cinematic Night Photos Lost Parisian Cafés by Blaise Arnold

Artist Blaise Arnold’s photo series focuses on notable Parisian cafés, stranded on empty street corners. Equipped with his tripod, Arnold tours throughout Paris and its mottled neighborhoods on the weekends, searching out these character-filled bistros and bars. Shooting at dawn or dusk, in wet weather, his project Red Lights has a visual theme that speaks a certain dark yet wistful aura.

The plan of Arnold’s piece is to draw awareness to these endangered haunts. He seeks to memorialize the vital, vintage meeting spots spread throughout the changing city before they disappear completely. With neon lights reflecting off the wet asphalt, Arnold’s photographs provokes a melancholic mood of nostalgia, as he pays ransom to the passage of time and tries to capture the gorgeous details of these lost cafés before they disappear.
