It doesn’t matter if you’re looking for the most underrated beaches or the highest mountains, it can be difficult to find the best places to travel. Fortunately, if it’s beaches you’re after then you’re in luck.

Here are some of the best in the world; all of which are surprisingly underrated:

Curacao

You’ve heard of Aruba, but not many people have heard of Curacao which is often described as Aruba’s cousin. It has 35 stunning beaches to choose from and is the perfect spot for windsurfing, diving, snorkeling, or simply soaking up the rays.

Pyla Sur Mer

This amazing beach is just an hour from Bordeaux, the second most beautiful city in France. It has the largest sand dunes in Europe, is roughly a mile and a half long; and is pure white sand.

It’s like a little slice of heaven.

Second Beach, Washington

Move back across the pond and you’ll find a surprising, but impressive, beach on the Olympic coast of Washington. There are actually 3 beaches here, the first is a simple stroll from your car, the second and third require a little more effort; there’s a thickly forested trail in your way for approximately one and a half miles.

But, the trek is worth it; just enjoy the journey as well as the destination.

Capo Sant’Andrea

This is actually a small island inside the island of Elba off the coast of Italy. It’s small but perfect; white sand brushes against clear blue seas with an amazing array of wildlife; as well as some impressive cliffs to climb.

Windansea Beach

Take a trip to San Diego and you’ll find this stunning stretch of coastlines. It is good for soaking up the sun. But, the best thing to do here is surf. There are several natural reefs under the water that create the perfect waves for all levels of surfers.

The scenery is fantastic, you can learn to surf, test your skills, or just watch the surfers; whatever you choose it will be a day to remember.

Ballyholme Beach

You may not think of Northern Ireland as the most obvious place for one of the best beaches in the world, but it is! It’s a slightly wild, rugged beach where the locals walk dogs, boats cruise by and you can test your resolve in the cool waters.

It’s not a tropical paradise, however, it is an experience that everyone should try once.

Sombero Beach

In Marathon, Florida, you’ll find this beach which is already known as one of the most beautiful in the Florida Keys. What is really unique about this beach is how much you’ll feel like you’re in the Caribbean, even though you’re not. The sad is white and glistens in the sun as the sparkling turquoise waters lap against the shore; you’ll find it hard not to relax.

Cumberland Island

If you’re ever in Georgia then you should check out this beach. It is largely untouched by man; you’ll still find wild horses running across it!

Alongside this, there are dunes, woodlands, and even marshes. It’s an intriguing and beautiful sight that you simply have to try!
