Flynn Matthews Los Angeles-based expert knitter Laura Birek has designed an easy-to-follow tutorial demonstrating how to make a chunky knit blanket that will keep you cozy no matter the weather.
With just massive yarn, two PVC pipes, and always-handy duct tape, you can craft Birek’s trademark “Giganto-Blanket” from the convenience of your own home. Taping two ends of the PVC pipes immediately transforms them into a pair totally functional giant—knitting needles, which can then be used as normal. The method is straightforward, of course, you know how to knit!
Once finished, each warm and fuzzy blanket will feel right at home at the foot of your bed, as a throw on the couch, or, as Birek prefers when cuddled by a cat!
