Our Cookie Policy

Cookies and your choices

FreeYork uses essential cookies for functions such as remembering your privacy choice, security and signing in. Analytics cookies and controlled external media are optional. Use Cookie preferences in the footer to accept, reject or change these choices at any time.

Required cookies

The fy_consent cookie remembers your consent choices and their revision for 182 days. Security or login cookies may also be used when those functions are needed. Required cookies do not enable Google Analytics cookies.

Google Analytics and your choice

FreeYork uses Google Analytics to measure visits. Analytics cookies are enabled before you make a choice unless you have a saved rejection. You can turn them off using Reject on the banner or Cookie preferences in the footer. External media remains paused until you allow it. Analytics cookies are optional and are not classified as required cookies.

After you reject analytics cookies, Google receives limited measurement signals without reading or writing those cookies. These signals are still analytics information and can include the page URL, referrer, timestamp and browser information. Your browser connects to Google to deliver these requests. Cookieless does not mean that no information is sent to Google.

Read Google’s explanation of Consent Mode for more information.

Optional analytics cookies

When Analytics cookies are on, Google Analytics may store _ga and _ga_BR4HYM2QR7 to distinguish browsers and measure visits across pages and return visits. These cookies can last up to two years, subject to browser limits and Google’s settings. Turning Analytics cookies off sends a denied storage update, removes these first-party cookies and returns measurement to cookieless mode. A saved rejection is respected on return visits. Turning cookies off does not undo information previously sent to Google.

Optional external media

Controlled video and social embeds remain paused until you allow External media. Once loaded, their providers may receive your IP address, browser information and the page you are viewing, and may use their own cookies. Turning this category off unloads controlled embeds; previously executed external scripts may require a page reload. FreeYork cannot delete cookies set on another provider’s domain. You can also manage those cookies in your browser.

Changing your choice and contacting us

Rejecting optional cookies keeps FreeYork available. Open Cookie preferences in the footer to change your settings. Clearing your browser’s cookies may cause us to ask again. For questions, contact [email protected] and read our Privacy Policy.
