These popsicles may seem just like the sort of thing you’d expect to find being served from a quirky organic, artisanal food truck, but one bite could leave you extremely sick indeed because they’re produced from sewage within the polluted waters of Taiwan.

Three layout students produced them for the Polluted Water Popsicles project, which aims to increase awareness about growing water pollution as a result of urbanization and rapid economic growth.

Water was taken from 100 different water sources in Taiwan and converted into frozen toxic popsicles before Hung I-chen, Guo Yi-hui, and Cheng Yu-ti from the National Taiwan University of Arts recreated them utilizing polyester resin that was evident. They created from which the contaminated water samples were taken, wrappers for them that represented the diverse locations. About 90% of it was plastic, while the trash in the water was varied, along with everything is contained by the popsicles from bottle caps and plastic bags to chopstick wrappers and bottles.
