From Ephemeral Art to Timeless Collectibles
Originally exhibited with six stone types and various sizes, the elegant candleholders are now crafted in Honey Onyx and Sunset Dune Travertine. Honey Onyx’s translucent, warm orange hues diffuse light, illuminating internal mineral layers. Meanwhile, the earthy, red-toned Sunset Dune Travertine displays its ancient, porous texture. This commercial evolution reflects both materials’ unique geological histories while bringing their natural allure into contemporary spaces.
“Natural stone carries a history that no designer can replicate. Sabine Marcelis brilliantly brings this history into modern design objects, making hidden qualities visible,” says David Mahyari, owner of SolidNature. “The installation’s positive reception inspired us to create pieces that let users personalize their experiences. Each sculptural candleholder, cut from a solid stone block, boasts a graceful curve accommodating three dinner candles.
