The competition strives to engage all CG designers around the world, including 2D artists, and provide a platform for their best, unique works.
CGTrader, one of the leading 3D stock model marketplaces is announcing the CGTrader Digital Art Competition. All CG artists are invited to participate for a chance to win prizes worth a total of $60,000 and expose their work to an audience of over 1.2 million users.
The competition strives to engage all CG designers around the world, including 2D artists, and provide a platform for their best, unique works. Artworks can be submitted to six categories: Character Illustration, Character Concept Design, Environment Illustration, Environment Concept Design, Object Design, and Object Concept Design. The works of art do not have to be created specifically for the competition, therefore artists can submit their best artworks, even if they were created some time ago. CGTrader will be reviewing submissions every day and pinning them to dedicated competition galleries for everyone to enjoy and vote on. The artworks that get the most votes will receive a separate Public Award.
CGTrader Digital Art Competition is supported by more than a dozen partners in the visual arts and CG industry, from software and hardware developers, to media outlets, all of which share a great passion for visual expression, creativity and willingness to support the global digital artist community.
“We want to give back to the CG community. As a 3D model platform, we often hold modeling challenges for our users and afterwards ask the winners to tell us what inspires them. Numerous great designers told us how 2D visual art inspires them as much as 3D art. Seeing the impact that CG art has on our world, we want to support all digital artists, and that is precisely why this time we are reaching out to 2D artists,” – said Laura, the coordinator of CGTrader Digital Art Competition.
CGTrader is the largest 3D model marketplace for computer graphics, virtual/augmented reality and gaming, backed by a strong professional designer community. On CGTrader, 3D artists, design studios and businesses share and sell their models. Customers can also hire designers for custom jobs on the platform.
This is not the first time CGTrader hosts art competitions to promote digital artists. With last year’s CGTrader’s Digital Art Awards being a great success, the company is hoping to once again become the home for many great digital works of art.
