When James first began making sculpture he made a decision to use cardboard as his medium of choice. He wanted a medium which can be used to sculpt beyond material and without needing an art studio. The result was the fine crafting of an inexpensive commonplace and material. He manipulates cardboard into taking a form that’s vastly beyond its purpose as a container to transport food and business goods.
James believes in art for all; art beyond race, gender, age, ability, and disability. This consideration evolved from the art arena to the arena. He is presently working on an educational resource to support arts practice that is sculptural in schools and colleges.
