Penélope Cruz Sánchez is a Spanish actress who has been in the spotlight since she was just 15 years old. At 16, her acting debut appeared on TV and at 17, she made her feature film debut with Jamón, jamón (1992). Her role as María Elena de la Rosa earned critical acclaim from critics all across the globe for its depth of emotion and realism against an otherwise absurd plotline. Even more famous roles followed such as Queen Isabella I of Castille in The Prince & Me 2: Royal Wedding which captured both media attention and adoration among viewers everywhere once again proving Penelope’s passion to act well-written scripts that explore social issues while also maintaining enough humor to pull off comedy scenes flawlessly.
In 2001 while filming Vanilla Sky starring Tom Cruise she met actor Javier Bardem who appeared alongside her later that same year in Blow where they were both nominated for Academy Awards
