In her present body of work, Odd Things, artist Erika Sanada uses clay to produce a complete slew of bizarre creatures; ones with additional body parts, including ears, legs, teeth and multiple arms.
“Clay permits me to create what is in my head,” explains Erika. A troubled youth and endless ‘life’ worries are wholly expressed in Odd Things.
“Amazing and affecting are terms I hear when people talk about my work, and I love that these two terms are not often used collectively. Life is also disturbing and beautiful. My work represents the weird as well as the creepy. I’m fascinated with the dark side.”
