This collection emerges from the idea of placing a single flower in a uniquely crafted vase, using the numeral as a versatile design canvas that bridges diverse materials and techniques from across Japan.
The Craftsmanship Behind 1RIN
1RIN debuts with a trio of materials emblematic of Japan’s rich craft heritage. Hasami porcelain from Nagasaki, Takaoka bronze from Toyama, and Yakumo wood from Hokkaido each redefine the numeral with distinct regional artistry.
Every vase retains the silhouette of the number one while showcasing unique regional techniques. The Hasami porcelain offers a refined, white finish that draws attention to the delicate contrast between vase and flower. Meanwhile, the Takaoka bronze introduces a weighted presence with a dynamic patina that evolves through touch.
In contrast, the wood-carved versions from Hokkaido translate Yakumo’s bear carving legacy into abstract forms, with textured details that make each piece a tactile experience.
