Volkswagen’s distinctive design legacy expands into unfamiliar territory with the introduction of the Smart eBike, a pedal-powered creation developed in partnership with n+. Both are available for pre-order, with deliveries slated for the fourth quarter of 2026. Both models utilize a robust 250 W Yamaha PW-X3 mid-drive motor, delivering 85 Nm of torque with a top pedal-assisted speed of 25 km/h. Yamaha’s automatic support mode adjusts power to terrain demand, providing assistance on hills while conserving energy on flat surfaces. The vehicle’s dashboard, reminiscent of Volkswagen, allows selection among six riding modes.
Housing a removable 490 Wh battery within the down tube, the eBike promises a range of up to 162 km, expandable with an optional 814 Wh battery. The Sport model weighs 27.5 kg, and the Crossover model, with its added features, weighs 28 kg.

Extending functionality beyond the bike, Smart accessories enhance the ride. A Smart Helmet equipped with accelerometers can detect impacts, notifying emergency contacts if unaddressed by the rider.
