Vancouver-based studio molo, led by founders Stephanie Forsythe and Todd MacAllen, has unveiled its latest innovation: the sloped softwall in shades of deep blue and glacier blue. These exquisite paper partitions are part of the studio’s renowned soft collection, a modular series that includes furniture, lighting, and space dividers. The collection’s adaptability allows users to creatively configure their environments with these flexible room dividers. This launch also marks molo’s collaboration with the historic Bavarian mill Gmund Paper, known for sustainable and high-quality paper production.

In Collaboration with Gmund Paper
Forsythe and MacAllen’s journey began at Dalhousie University in 1994, where they developed a keen interest in materials and sustainable design. Their partnership has since grown into molo, recognized globally with over 35 patents and inclusion in major design collections like MoMA. The collaboration with Gmund Paper brings forth a bespoke range of fire-retardant, recyclable papers. Gmund, based on the Mangfall River in Germany, utilizes hydropower, underscoring the eco-friendly ethos shared with this innovative system.

The Beauty of Sustainable Architecture Through Light and Color
The sloped softwall employs a flexible honeycomb construction, extending its length a hundredfold from its compressed form. It links magnetically to create a sustainable, waste-reducing building system. The translucent glacier blue panels evoke clear skies and wispy clouds under sunlight, while the deep blue embodies the ocean’s dynamic surface. Both shades use eco-friendly pigments on FSC® Certified paper, ensuring innovation and sustainability in harmony. This paper, crafted on a 140-year-old machine enhanced with modern technology, supports environmental protection through zero landfill waste. This paper architecture exemplifies modular furniture that adapts to your space.
For those intrigued by inventive installations, unique furniture at Paris Design Week showcases transformative design through clever mechanisms.

With their sloped softwall, Forsythe and MacAllen offer a flexible, light-responsive partition system that blends aesthetic appeal with practical function, inviting users to redefine their spaces using this ingenious design.
