Modern Cabins Redefine Holiday Stays on Slovenian Farmland
Perched on a picturesque hillside in Kancevci, Slovenia, two striking white cabins redefine the concept of holiday accommodation within a historical farmstead. Designed by Maja and Goran Dominko of Kubico domino arhitekti, the compact structures boast an innovative 226-square-foot interior, harmoniously blending with the lush Goricko landscape. Their sleek white aluminum cladding and expansive glass facades invite the surrounding countryside into their light-filled interiors.

Modern Retreats: Blending Modernity with Heritage at Pri Momi
These contemporary structures were added to Pri Momi, a 20,000-square-meter estate complete with a traditional farmhouse, barns, a serene pool, and a sauna. Used for weddings and celebrations, the property elegantly integrates the new retreats beside its historic architecture. The designs introduce a fresh, simple aesthetic without overshadowing the rustic charm of their environment.
Arranged side by side and bordered by pale gravel and young trees in barrel planters, each cabin enjoys individual access and outdoor space, seamlessly transitioning into the green expanse of the Slovenian hills. The new additions perfectly balance modern architecture with the traditional elements of the estate.

Distinctive Prefalz Cladding Unifies Form and Function
The standout feature of these cabins is their white Prefalz aluminum cladding, which offers a continuous wrap from walls to gabled roofs. The standing-seam panels create visually striking vertical lines that highlight the geometric simplicity of the cabins. Dark bases ground the structures, while skylights punctuate the roofs, adding both function and aesthetic appeal.
The inviting wood-lined entrances framed by natural wood paneling contrast against the white exterior, featuring large sliding glass doors and triangular glazing. This design not only softens the exterior but also ensures sunlight reaches every corner of the interior.

Precision Prefabrication for Efficient Deployment
Constructed in collaboration with MITOS GRUP, these accommodations exemplify precision prefabrication. Fully assembled in a workshop, 85% of each unit, primarily comprising wood, ensures internal technical systems are seamlessly integrated. With dimensions of approximately 23 by 13 feet, the cabins were transported whole to their location, facilitating rapid installation within four months.
This off-site construction offers a reproducible model for future hospitality projects, marrying architectural innovation with efficiency. It underscores the versatility and adaptability of this approach, showcasing how they can effortlessly merge with the beautiful Slovenian landscape.

A Harmonious Interior Inspired by Minimalism
Inside, the cabins feature a cohesive design with an open layout. The bedroom, dominated by a high gabled ceiling, benefits from white walls and pale wood finishes, creating an illusion of space. A wood-paneled headboard and minimalist furnishings maintain a sense of simplicity and elegance.
Large sliding doors frame the outdoors beautifully, while curtains offer privacy. A positioned television and minimal furniture ensure ample space to move freely within the room.

Compact Spaces with Thoughtful Details
A small kitchenette designed for essential needs features natural wood cabinets paired with a crisp white countertop. Adjacent to it, a dining table with upholstered chairs serves as a functional space for meals or work, accentuated by an elegant pendant light.

Ingenious Use of Glass in Bathroom Design
The bathroom utilizes glass partitions to preserve openness while frosted sections ensure privacy. A streamlined walk-in shower and a floating vanity topped with a vessel sink enhance the space’s modern aesthetic. Light and grey tiles complement black accessories, tying in the cabin’s simple material palette while maintaining an airy atmosphere.
The Pri Momi project, in collaboration with Kubico domino arhitekti, illustrates the potential of prefabricated architecture to provide sophisticated, contemporary living spaces that respect and enhance existing rural settings. These structures stand as a testament to the seamless integration of modern architecture with nature, setting a new standard for holiday accommodations.
