During a reflective walk amid the forests and mountains of Tepoztlán, Mexico, Alexis Mata experienced a transformative moment. Dandelion seeds, floating intermittently through the air, evoked the sensation of standing on an alien world. This fleeting encounter sparked the creation of his latest exhibition at Thinkspace in Los Angeles.
Exploring ‘Lost Landing’
The show, aptly named “Lost Landing,” unveils Mata’s mesmerizing glitched landscapes, where the natural world morphs into something dreamlike. In these works, familiar elements like plants and stones converge in abstract forms, reminiscent of a visual glissando. Mata considers landing as a metaphor not only for discovery but also for reconnecting with creativity and wonder.
