Born and raised in Shelton, Connecticut, Jeff studied photography and art at high school. In Jackson Hole, Wyoming he coached as an Alpine mountaineering guide and became certified as a wilderness emergency medical technician. This was also the place where his life changed drastically.
A crash whilst snowboarding left Jeff having a broken back and no feeling in his legs. However, after eight months of painful recovery, Jeff recovered the feeling in his legs and was back on his feet.
Refusing let his injury stop him from being the lively guy that he is, he decided to get back on his snowboard.
While on his way into the mountain in Vermont he detected some wood carvings across the side of a road, and he thought, “that I could do this.” And so, JMS Wood Sculpture was created in 1998.
His company has allowed Jeff to reside all around the nation and travel all over the world participating in competitions and he continues to be a reliable friend throughout the carving community.
