A Tiny Innovation in Photography
In the midst of digital saturation, the revival of lo-fi photography offers a breath of fresh air. Breaking away from the digital complexity, the Keymera presents a minimalist solution. Created by designer Matej Nahtigal, this keychain-sized camera is something you assemble at home, thanks to 3D printing.
Small enough to attach to your keyring, the Keymera’s design is pared down to essentials: five 3D-printed parts and four electronic components. It captures genuine 3 MP photos and stores them locally, eliminating reliance on external cloud services.

Streamlined Design and Assembly
Constructing the Keymera is straightforward. The electronics setup comprises a Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32S3 Sense board, an OV3660 image sensor, a LiPo battery, and a tactile button. This modular system connects through just four solder joints. You print the shell, wire the parts, and snap them together—no screws or glue necessary. Assembly time? A mere two hours, including printing.

Simple, Intuitive Use

A single button operates the Keymera. Press once to power it on, capture a photo, save it to a microSD card, and then let it return to sleep mode. Its standby power consumption of just 10 µA means it can last on your keyring for weeks.

Seamless Photo Access

Forget cables and apps. Hold the button to activate the Keymera’s Wi-Fi network, connecting via any phone or laptop. Access the gallery page in your browser, view, and download your images—no accounts, no data harvesting.

A Design Beyond a Circuit Board

This isn’t just about capturing images; it’s about experiencing photography. Keymera’s interchangeable shells, inspired by historical camera designs, allow personalization with any color or finish. From rangefinder to instant camera styles, these shells keep your experience authentic and tactile.

An Honest Approach to Photography
Keymera’s files are digitally licensed, ensuring sustainability while offering a unique take in today’s AI-saturated world. With a fixed 3 MP sensor, photos are lo-fi and untouched by technology, embracing pure creativity. It’s more than innovation; it’s an honest companion ready to capture the moment whenever it strikes.
