Born in Kyoto. Moved to the United States at the age of seventeen as an exchange student. Graduated from Parsons School of Design Photography Department BFA degree in NY. In 2005 moved to Tokyo. In 2008 published first book SOL ARIKO from AKAAKA Art Publishing. In 2011 decided to take over the ancestral soba and cake restaurant, a family business since the 15th century in Kyoto.
