Kody Kato is the founding Director of the Office for Design Evolution (ODE) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The business name refers to an evolutionary design process, in which fundamentals of architecture, the natural environment, and traditional crafts are combined in unconventional ways to enhance the way we live and experience distance.
Kato received a Doctor of Architecture degree and had been appointed the Young CAADRIA at the 17th International Conference for Computer‐Aided Architectural Design Research in Asia because of his work in Performance‐oriented Design. His work has also received a Lot of awards, such as the 2010 Shinkenchiku Residential Design Competition Award of Merit, the Finest Prize for the 28th International Space Architecture Contest, AIA Student Award of Excellence, and Energy Pioneer Award. In 2009 and 2010, his work was shown in Space Gallery and in the Gwangju Design Biennale in South Korea.
