Redefining stadium entryways with a bold transformation
Renowned architecture studio Grimshaw has unveiled groundbreaking plans for a bold makeover with a striking entry plaza at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The design transforms existing parking lots into vital transport infrastructure and elevated walkways.
Grimshaw’s vision signifies Las Vegas’ commitment to embracing change through its integration of the Boring Company’ tunnel system, moving the city away from traditional parking solutions adjacent to major venues. As Grimshaw partner Andrew Byrne puts it, “Some of the most undervalued land in American sport and entertainment is the asphalt sitting empty immediately adjacent to venues that already draw the crowd.”

Innovative platform design with bold advancements
The innovative project will transform two key parking areas into the new North Plaza. Renderings reveal an elevated platform that bridges over the interstate freeway I-15, creating seamless connectivity and expansive gathering spaces topped with a translucent canopy.

Beneath this canopy, a dedicated car lane will link to Dean Martin Drive, facilitating efficient traffic flow. The design includes an underground a portion of the 65 approved miles of tunnel, seamlessly connecting to the city’s planned Las Vegas Loop system.

Integration with Allegiant Stadium
The Boring Company, spearheaded by Elon Musk, will use Tesla vehicles to transport visitors through these state-of-the-art tunnels. The North Plaza’s architectural form will reflect the iconic, black-clad Allegiant Stadium, home to the NFL‘s Las Vegas Raiders. This transformation is evident in both the form and function of the new design.
A unique circular structure on the platform serves as a “placeholder” for future potential outdoor venues and shade structures, according to Byrne. A primary causeway beneath the platform will directly connect the stadium’s entrances with remaining parking areas, serving as both a functional entryway and a vibrant gathering spot for fans. This redesign highlights the commitment to enhancing fan experience.
A similar commitment to enhancing spaces is seen in the civic renewal at Přerov City Hall, showcasing modernist architecture developments.
