Layers of ultralight MDF and maple veneer, each two inches thick and wrapped in stained accents, form a captivating landscape inside SKIN1004’s debut U.S. flagship. This Korean skincare brand’s New York store, located on Broadway, spans nearly 9,900 square feet over two floors, enveloped in warm ochre and umber wood tones.

MDF and Maple Veneer in Architectural Harmony
LMTLS Architecture transformed the original Soho space by removing the existing second floor. This opened the entrance into a double-height lounge, perfect for events and daily visits. As you move through, the ceiling dynamically shifts, creating an expanding and contracting feel within the store, further enhanced by the ultralight wood structure.

The Nature Wall
Dubbed the Nature Wall by LMTLS, this feature integrates seating, product display, and a sales counter into a seamless topography. Its design draws inspiration from eroded sandstone, showcasing layers reminiscent of geological formations. These materials were central to its creation, with fabrication managed by Gilbert and Adirondack Studios, involving precision-cutting each layer before assembly.
Reflection and Illumination
A nine-foot-tall reflective plane runs parallel to the Nature Wall, amplifying the space’s topographical depth. This Mirror Wall visually doubles the store’s narrow SoHo volume. Cooledge’s illuminated surfaces highlight the wood’s warmth, while the brushed metal column carries the SKIN1004 brand subtly into the luminous ceiling above. The combined use of these materials gives the space a cohesive and fluid aesthetic.

Gallery-Like Presentation
The rear chamber offers a shift in pace, treating products as gallery pieces. A towering single-plane mirror and an immersive LED wall displaying brand films create an engaging experience, echoing SKIN1004’s essence of drawing from pristine landscapes. The flagship, open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 470 Broadway, seamlessly merges brand philosophy with architectural innovation, with these elements continuing to play a pivotal role.
