In May, as migrating birds journey north, your garden or nearby nature reserves may become a temporary haven for these travelers. Similarly, Flora & Flight, a solo exhibition by Vasilisa Romanenko at Arch Enemy Arts, celebrates this seasonal movement. The exhibition highlights the intricate beauty of birds amidst spring blooms.
The art of Romanenko
Romanenko’s acrylic paintings, varying from six to 28 inches, capture birds surrounded by vivid blossoms. Her work provides an intimate portrayal of avian life, offering a closer look at creatures usually gone in a flutter. White doves are seen among peonies, poppies, and snapdragons, while dark-eyed juncos find residence on hollyhocks. The gallery notes, “Each bird in Vasilisa’s work carries such a wonderful sense of form and character. Each leaf and flower feels varied and alive.”

Flora & Flight runs through May 31 in Philadelphia. Romanenko’s art is also available for viewing on her Instagram.
