Dioses del Maíz (Corn Gods): Prehispanic 3D Gods Projected on Trees against Transgenic Corn

Dioses del Máiz (Corn Gods) is an audiovisual installation that was displayed for the first time at Foro Lindbergh, Parque México, México DF, during the 12º Corredor Cultural Roma-Condesa.

The objective of this urban intervention on trees it was raising awareness about the necessity of preserving traditional Mexican corn seeds against transgenic products that threats corn variety.

Eight 3D faces of prehispanic gods related to the corn harvest were digitally prepared to perfectly fit the shape of each of the 4 trees used for the show.

Two different gods were projected on each tree, switching from one to another through smooth 3D video transitions.

People freely could access the park, seeing the monumental faces on the trees while listening to prehispanic music, sounds and voices.

The installation was designed and produced by digital creators, José Morente and Israel Villalobos (Maizz Visual) with the support of Delegación Cuauhtémoc, Mexico DF.
