Band This Winding Staircase Onto Any Tree Without Any Tools

Designers Thor te Kulve and Robert McIntyre have devised a smart system that allows anyone to make a spiral staircase up to the trunk of a tree without actually damaging it and without using tools.
Their innovative staircase made of birch steps that hold on to the tree trunk with bands and clutch its side with thick neoprene pads. Joining a series of these steps, along with an accompanying handrail, creates a spiral staircase.

“We have gone with the arboriculturists at Hampstead Heath to ensure we are not breaking the tree,” McIntyre told Dezeen. Trees can still be harmed by enclosing after long after maintained friction, so we think these stairs are a temporary structure. According to the designers, a 7m staircase would take two people 3 hours to build but only 30min. To take apart.
