Cinematic Paintings of Dystopian Landscapes by Simon Stålenhag

Digital paintings of an alternative world where robots are common and dying science facilities dot the Scandinavian landscape, alongside citizens that go about their ordinary lives. The paintings by Swedish illustrator Simon Stålenhag were inspired by sci-fi movies he watched as a kid while growing up in the rural areas around Stockholm. His unusual and vivid images that juxtapose the disturbing realities of life with sci-fi technologies we can only imagine have earned him a worldwide fan base and has also made him a concept artist and storyteller for the film and computer gaming industry.
