For ten years now, Japanese flower artist and botanical photographer Azuma Makoto has been making photos of his bonsai tree around the world. The ‘Shiki I’ sculpture consists of a 50-year-old bonsai tree attached to an open steel frame. By placing the object into wonderful natural surroundings, such as the wilderness and the ocean, the project has taken him and his team to different locations around the globe. A charming image yet sees the bonsai tree hung in the stratosphere above the Black Rock Desert in Nevada, USA.
