Stencil Art by Martin Whatson

by Weronika Czekalska 2016-10-11, 7:30 PMupdated 2017-03-21, 8:45 PM

Norwegian-born artist Martin Whatson creates stencil art that lashes out at the mundane, suspending grayscale scenes with explosions of a vibrantly painted mural. The works often focus on a sole matte subject, one that is seemingly unaware of the bright words and marks that have circled their bleak environment. Whatson’s inspirations come from a diversity of urban origins, inspired by everything from rotting walls to the graffiti and posters that cover them.
