Originally from Israel, New York-based Ron Gilad is a Modern conceptual designer.
His work bridges the difference between artwork and artwork, producing pieces that seem to be straightforward black line drawings. Gilad’s inanimate objects bring picture outlines to lifestyle and play with a view, perplexing a viewer’s need to seek out a motive in their structure. Though some pieces are specially made for practical means, like the tables with glass and metallic surfaces, many others are whimsical but smart abstractions of a room, in a place characterized by the designer. Gilad is dedicated to producing ‘functional conversation pieces’s-his job both combines and generates tension between essences of both minimalism and restraint.
