Apple’s new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display adds touch input, bringing macbook pro touch support to an Apple laptop for the first time. Creative Bloq describes the change as a possible shift in how creatives interact with their software. The 3D software developer Maxon sees the same opening.
Maxon plans to bring touch support to Cinema 4D and ZBrush on the new MacBook Pro in late November. The company is also adding a feature that lets artists preview Cinema 4D scenes on Apple Vision Pro.
Maxon calls the MacBook Pro an “entirely new dimension to professional creative workflows.” The company points to three features: a tandem OLED display, touch input, and the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips.
In Cinema 4D, artists can build and animate complex 3D worlds. In ZBrush, they can develop detailed digital sculptures. Maxon says it adds a hands-on layer to both, alongside the mouse, keyboard and trackpad.
Digital 3D sculptors may enjoy Surreal 3D Visuals Reimagining Heavy Music Imagery, which shows how surreal 3D craft reshapes music imagery.
From iPad sculpting to touch on the MacBook Pro
Maxon already offers ZBrush for iPad, which lets artists shape and refine models with their fingers or an Apple Pencil. Adding touch input brings a similar method to a desktop setup.
Touchscreen laptops running Windows have existed for years. The new element on this macbook pro touchscreen is Apple’s PROLED XDR Display, which Creative Bloq credits with strong brightness, contrast and colour accuracy.
Maxon has also announced a Cinema 4D iPad app, due before the end of the year. Details are listed on the Maxon website.
Previewing scenes at life size with Apple Vision Pro
Cinema 4D will gain a Spatial Preview API. Artists using Mac Virtual Display on Apple Vision Pro can explore and interact with their designs at life size. That makes proportions and composition easier to judge before production begins.
Maxon says the feature suits architectural visualisation, retail environments, exhibition spaces and experiential design. A designer can walk through an interior or check the layout of a room before anything is built.
Clients and collaborators can join the same scene at the same time. They can move through it or view it from above. Maxon says people who do not use 3D software can spot problems and give feedback earlier in the process.
Availability
Cinema 4D and ZBrush are available immediately on the new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display, which begins shipping on 6 November, 2026. Both touch support and Open in Spatial Preview arrive in late November. Spatial Preview requires visionOS 27 for Apple Vision Pro and macOS 27 for the Mac.
Apple’s laptop and headset plans depend on its silicon, so Apple’s M6 Chip Hints at Upcoming Breakthroughs offers useful context on what powers these machines next.
For artists, the test will be whether touch input changes how they work, or only how they reach the controls. The answer will show up in late November, when the features ship.
