Embracing original architecture
CannaRoomz captivates with its meticulous restoration of the original brick vaulting, an essential feature of this unique Prague bar. Designed by BekArch and completed in 2025, this 56.65-square-metre space in the Karlín district thrives beneath a residential building’s basement on Sokolovská Street. Rather than conceal its raw architectural bones, the bar embraces them to create a rhythmic sequence of intimate bays.
Designing with purpose
The bar’s design transforms necessity into artistry. Exposed ventilation ducts support climbing plants, integrating nature into the industrial setting. This clever utilization of infrastructure ensures that nothing obstructs or competes with the striking brickwork.

An inviting atmosphere
Visitors are welcomed by a bar counter dressed in vertically arranged glossy green tiles. Its rustic texture and integrated lighting create a play of reflections, making it the visual focal point. A custom overhead structure with ivy and frosted globe pendants bathes the room in a soft, inviting glow.

A seamless transition of materials
The back of the room showcases a transition from striking green-and-white marble to luxurious booth seating in deep emerald velvet. This seamless blend of textures echoes the design ethos seen in Milan’s Bar Rito, where marble acts as a pivotal design element.

A basement with tactile richness
CannaRoomz brings together concrete, brick, velvet, and flora without allowing any material to dominate. This thoughtful combination offers a tactile experience uncommon in underground spaces, reminiscent of Supaform Studio’s Eje in Belgrade.

The vaults’ final say
As night falls, the space transforms under a soft, ambient glow from the pendant globes. The vaults continue to dictate the flow of light, maintaining their architectural prominence. CannaRoomz stands as a testament to BekArch’s innovative design philosophy, one that respects and enhances its historical context.
