Disturbing Fleshy Sculptures Of Cao Hui

by John Oliver 2015-08-13, 12:10 PMupdated 2022-12-22, 3:45 PM

The work of Cao Hui may be hard for some viewers. The Chinese artist’s ‘visual temperature’ series portrays everyday objects such as an armchair, suitcase, jacket, and gloves… without realistically rendered as flesh. While originally distorted, the group of sculptures is crafted with accuracy from elements that wouldn’t usually correlate with soft and meaty parts: a mixture of resin, quicklime, fiber, and other factors.
