Smashed Soda Cans Made Of Ming Dynasty-Style Porcelain By Chinese artist Lei Xue

Drinking Tea is the title of a unique and eye-catching continuous project by Chinese artist Lei Xue.

The painter and artist uses porcelain to build sculptures that mirror crushed and dumped soda cans, and as you can see from the photos, the result is both entertaining and intriguing. The white ceramic decorated with blue patterns is motivated by the style characteristic of the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644), and the use of conventional ceramics to perform modern pieces of art creates an interesting coalition between the old and the new.

These were created entirely by hand, and you check out more of Lei Xue’s gorgeous artwork on Artsy.
