Designer Maja Stamenković translates the fading art of handwritten letters into an evocative sculptural side table. Named Love Letters »M«, this collectible piece showcases an innovative transformation of the letter M into a three-dimensional form. Topped with a triangular volume, it reflects the distinctive shape of an envelope flap, intertwining geometry and typography. This iteration evolves her Love Letters series, moving from functional storage furniture to sculptural artistry, tapping into the tactile and emotional value of penmanship.

Engineered with seven layers of meaning and material

Stamenković’s creation comprises seven layers of materials, each symbolizing a generation. It integrates solid walnut, Portogallo Rosso marble, painted aluminum, stainless steel, painted MDF, tiles, plexiglass, and brass. These elements merge to form a vessel of memory and continuity. Each material carries its own story, offering a tangible connection to history.

Love Letters »M« debuted at the Venice Design Biennial 2025 as part of the “Collectible” exhibition, centered on the theme Extinction / Salvation. The piece contemplates the fading of cultural rituals amidst today’s digital surge. Awarded Silver at the London Design Awards 2025 for Unexpected Design, it challenges everyday objects to preserve memories and emotions.

A blend of recycled and natural materials

Highlighting a commitment to sustainability, the Love Letters »M« side table combines recycled, salvaged, and natural components. Its craftsmanship invites users to pause and rediscover the gentle intimacy of handwritten communication in our digital age. The mirrored accents and open volumes beckon closer inspection, encouraging reflection and interaction.
