Reflective Camouflage: These Mirror Spiders Look Like Jewelry Made Of Mirror Shards

For the last few years, Singapore-based photographer Nicky Bay has been documenting the life of the mirror spider, an amazing arthropod whose abdomen is covered in radiant reflective panels that appear almost metallic. Bay lately noticed that some of the spiders exhibit strange behavior in addition to their glistening surface: possibly the spiders are able to handle the mirrors in places where they might feel threatened. In some cases, the gaps between the silver plates almost totally disappear forming a larger reflective surface.
