For a series named “Metamorfoza,” Croatian-based photographer Ino Zeljak used Photoshop to explore “similarities and distinctions between people that are related genetically or with the relationship,” so he merged the halves of two images into one blended portrait based on photos of twins, siblings, mothers and daughters, and best friends.
Zeljak said he was attempting to show the range of possibilities in the human face. The effect is shocking. You think you’re viewing a standard portrait, “but when you look at it a bit closer, you see something unusual and unfamiliar.”
