If you’ve never been fortunate enough to sample the splendidly ornate and intricate ceilings of the churches of Rome, then prepare yourself for a visual treat courtesy of Bali-based, French architect and photographer Florian Pagano.
Using HDR photographic methods to capture the most powerful of details, colours, and decorations of the sacred ceilings, Pagano created this series of photos during his recent vacation and architecture pilgrimage in Rome. Take some time to look more closely at each shot, noticing the crazy amount of work that has clearly gone into each ceiling – providing each building’s loyal worshippers to gaze up at their hymn books and feel as though they truly are observing the gateway to heaven.
