Danish design brand Fritz Hansen and audio specialist Technics have partnered to transform Fritz Hansen’s Farringdon showroom into a series of inviting, Bauhaus-inspired listening spaces for the London Design Festival. These environments are designed to captivate audiophiles and design enthusiasts alike.

As part of the Fritz Hansen Sound Club, the showroom is divided into four distinct areas where visitors can enjoy a specially curated selection of vinyl records. This innovative installation blends Fritz Hansen’s furniture and lighting with Technics’ turntables, headphones, and speakers to create atmospheres that are both visually and sonically engaging.

A Design Delight: The Centerpiece Pieces

The centerpiece of these spaces features the 90th anniversary limited edition of the Kaiser Idell Luxus table lamp alongside the Technics SL 40CBT turntable, both reimagined in an elegant burgundy hue. This collaboration between historic design and cutting-edge audio technology celebrates the Bauhaus movement, integrating 1930s furniture with modern pieces from the Fritz Hansen collection, ultimately enhancing the experience.

Sound as a Spatial Experience

The Fritz Hansen Sound Club debuted during the 3 Days of Design in Copenhagen, showcasing how sound informs the way we experience interior settings. “Sound plays a direct role in how we experience space,” stated Fritz Hansen’s creative director, Els Van Hoorebeeck. “It influences movement, pauses, and interactions with furniture, lighting, and materials, making our spaces truly special.”

Exploring the Spaces

In the Study area, steel-framed desks are paired with Arne Jacobsen’s Ant Chair in a cherry veneer, while the iconic Egg Chair offers a comfortable spot in the Reading Corner. Downstairs, the Living Room is designed for socialising, featuring a turntable and speakers, further contributing to the overall experience.

Iconic and Contemporary Collaborations

The setup also includes pieces like Poul Kjærholm’s PK31 sofa and PK80 daybed, along with a 1930s drinks trolley and PK61 tables, all elements that enhance the setting. Fritz Hansen, founded in 1872, has collaborated with renowned designers like Jacobsen, Kjærholm, and modern talents such as Piero Lissoni and Cecilie Manz.
